Secretary
Victoria Shelton brings over three decades of experience in victim assistance and criminal justice to the board, along with a knack for helping nonprofits thrive. As the leader of a national training and technical assistance center, she’s spent the last 20 years guiding organizations through everything from trauma-informed program development to strategic planning—with a special focus on building resilience and capacity.
When she’s not championing evidence-based practices or supporting TMA’s mission, Victoria enjoys the quiet charm of Rappahannock County, where she’s lived since 2017 with her husband, four dogs, two cats, and a delightfully eccentric flock of geese, ducks, hens, and guinea fowl. Her farmyard crew keeps things lively—and her Zoom calls interesting!
Sarah Stiles joined the TMA board in December 2024. As a recently retired Georgetown University professor she brings over 30 years teaching and mentoring experience as well as expertise in social entrepreneurship and nonprofit development. A long-time meditator and former practitioner of Tae Kwon Do, Sarah has great respect for the power of Eastern wisdom and self discipline in achieving a fulfilling life. She is eager to work and play with the local community in lifting bodies, minds, and spirits.
Thomas Oliphant is a Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and Washington columnist for The Boston Globe. Tom is now a full time resident of Sperryville. Tom brings fundraising experience, D.C. savvy, along with Brooklyn street smarts and a Harvard education to the board.
